On Thursday, October 18 2012, INC@NYU was excited to host Gina Neff, visiting scholar at NYU and associate professor at University of Washington, Seattle, to discuss her new book, Venture Labor: Work and the Burden of Risk in Innovative Industries. Joining her to reflect on the dot-com boom and bust, and talk about the future of the Internet was a panel of fellows scholars and entrepreneurs: Joanne Wilson, angel investor, blogger and chair of the Women’s Entrepreneurial Festival; and danah boyd, research assistant professor at MCC specializing in digital and social media. With host Aaron Cohen, the panel delved into how individuals in the tech industry reacted to the dot-com bust, and what those reactions revealed about what it means to work in innovative industries.
